In two decades Koh Samui has developed into one of Asia’s leading holiday destinations. Every year more and more visitors are drawn to explore its beauty and relax on its sun-drenched beaches. One trip will tell you why – Samui is a magical place, the original island paradise.

KOH SAMUI BEACHES

Chaweng
Chaweng is the largest town and has the longest beach on Samui. There are dozens of hotels and bungalows along Chaweng beach. You can find anything from 5 star luxury to the handful of budget bungalows that remain from Samui's days as a backpackers haven.Accommodation prices are higher then elsewhere on Samui, but Chaweng still has a highest density and widest selection of clubs, bars and restaurants on the island.
Lamai
Lamai is Samui's second largest beach and said to be one of the most beautiful. The water is excellent for swimming and has some elegant granite boulders that make this a wonderful beach.Nightlife in Lamai tends to be of the girly bar variety, although there are a few decent clubs and expatriate watering holes, There are also some high quality eating and drinking options.a wide selection of accommodation is available.
Nathon
Nathon the main ferry port of the island. All the government offices and banks are located in and around Nathon.Shopping here is less expensive than in Chaweng or Lamai. Most shops are on the inland road, which is one-way heading South. However the ocean road has a number of good restaurants for breakfast or lunch.
Big Buddha Beach
Very close to Samui's only airport makes Big Buddha beach very convenient if you're flying in or out of the island. The resorts here tend to be well spaced out.Prices remain relatively low and there are several upmarket options too.
Bophut
Bophut is easily the most charming village on Samui with a single strip of old Chinese shop houses with many of them converted to restaurants, bars, guesthouses. A great spot for a romantic beachside dinner and Mediterranean feel.A wide choice of cuisine which is very popular with the French and Italians.
Hua Thanon
This is a Muslim fishing village there are just a few restaurants on the main road. The beach is not good for swimming but a stroll along one of Hua Thanons main attractions the fishermen and there markets.
Lipa Noi
The best place to catch a sunset.A few good bungalows and some excellent seafood restaurants.Very shallow beach great for children as you can wade out for 200m and the water is still no higher than your waist.
Maenam
A number of good restaurants alot of bungalows and four and five star resorts.A good wide sandy beach with great veiws make this a spectacular beach.
